| Fort Oglethorpe and Catoosa County Work Wreck with Entrapment CATOOSA COUNTY, GA – At about 5:45 PM, Tuesday, April 15, 2009, Catoosa County Engine 6 and Rescue 1 along with Fort Oglethorpe Engine 8 were toned out for a one vehicle crash with rollover and entrapment at Three Notch Road and Boynton Drive. Firefighters arrived to find a Jeep Cherokee on its right side with the driver entrapped. While some firefighters worked to stabilize the vehicle, others went to work with the “jaws of life” to free the trapped man. Firefighters had to cut the back door off the SUV and then cut the seat backs off to reach him. Once the driver was freed, medics from Angel EMS along with firefighters rushed him to a landing zone not far from the crash. Life Force Helicopter transported the victim to Erlanger Hospital in critical condition. The driver is thought to have suffered some type of diabetic emergency but the cause of the accident is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol. The Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department also assisted on the scene. |
