Several Hurt in Fort Oglethorpe Collision

FORT OGLETHORPE, GA – At about 3:30 PM, Wednesday, July 29, 2009, Fort Oglethorpe Fire
and Rescue was alerted to a possible head on crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of
Lafayette Road and Cloud Springs Road.  Battalion Chief Doug Flury (907), Assistant Chief Glenn
Davis (903) and Engine 1 along with an ambulance from Angel EMS responded.  Chief Flury
arrived to find a Chrysler LeBaron Convertible and a GMC Denali in the intersection with several
occupants still in both vehicles.  A check revealed no entrapment but as many as eight patients
and Chief Flury requested two additional medic units.

Firefighters and medics provided emergency medical care for all of those involved in the accident.  
One person from the LeBaron and two from the Denali were placed onto backboards and
transported by Angel EMS to area hospitals.  The remainder of those involved in the accident
signed waivers after refusing transport.

The Fort Oglethorpe Police Department and the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department provided
assistance on the scene.  The accident is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.
