Rollover Injures One in Catoosa County

CATOOSA COUNTY, GA – At about 2:20PM, Wednesday, August 12, 2009, the Catoosa County
Fire Department was dispatched to Wooten Road at Bowling Road in reference to a single vehicle
accident with rollover.  Engine 3 responded and located a maroon colored van on its top with the
driver, an elderly female, trapped inside.  The driver was hanging upside down, held in by the
seatbelt.

Firefighters immediately accessed the vehicle through the driver’s side and also through the back
door.  They stabilized the patient, placed her in a KED.  The headrest were removed from the seats
and the back seats folded down so that a backboard can be placed into the van.  The patient was
then placed on the backboard and removed from the vehicle.  She was transported in good
condition to the hospital by Angel EMS.

Marks made by the vehicle indicated that it left the roadway, traveled few hundred feet, narrowly
missing a tree and a pole, through a small ditch, a yard and a large clump of dirt and bushes
before coming to rest upside down in another stand of bushes.  What caused the vehicle to leave
the roadway is unknown at this time.  The accident is under investigation by the Georgia State
Patrol.  The Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
